
Jeep accident in Helambu: Two Bhutanese nationals dead, five injured


In a devastating incident on Tuesday, a jeep carrying Bhutanese nationals met with a tragic accident in Ward 1 of Helambu Rural Municipality, leaving two individuals dead and five others seriously injured.
The victims, identified as a 71-year-old and a 33-year-old man, lost their lives on the spot, according to Police Inspector Manoj Kumar Shrestha of the Helambu Area Police Office. The incident occurred as the jeep, driven by a Nepali, was en route to Milarepa cave. The vehicle skidded off a dirt road, plunging approximately 50 meters and causing the fatal casualties.
Upon reaching the accident site, authorities discovered the two Bhutanese nationals deceased, while the injured were promptly transported to the Helambu Primary Health Centre for immediate medical attention, as confirmed by Inspector Shrestha.
Rescue operations were swiftly initiated, with security personnel, local residents, and representatives from the community coming together to aid in the efforts.
Nima Gyalzen Sherpa, Chair of the Helambu Rural Municipality, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and stated that preparations are currently underway to airlift the seriously injured individuals to Kathmandu for advanced medical treatment.
