Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat underscored the pivotal role of education in fostering economic transformation during his address at the 35th-anniversary celebration of Birendra Secondary School in Dupcheshwar rural municipality-2.
Highlighting the significance of education, Minister Mahat stated that it serves as the backbone for economic progress, emphasizing that it alone provides the primary foundation for job creation, economic income, and advancements in allied sectors. While acknowledging the importance of infrastructure development, he stressed that education stands as a more potent catalyst for economic change.
“Construction of infrastructures is necessary for development. Although this makes daily living convenient, the development of education is greater than this and is the most powerful means for economic change,” remarked Finance Minister Mahat. He further asserted that education illuminates the main path toward increasing sources of income, fostering savings, and creating a brighter future.
Minister Mahat also pointed out that systematic improvements in roads, drinking water, irrigation, and health services are indicators of development, which can be made more efficient through educational initiatives. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education to fuel employment generation and skill development.
“We should become technology-friendly and focus on technical education in tune with the changing time,” Minister Mahat remarked. He disclosed the government’s plan to provide skill training to individuals who haven’t had the opportunity for formal education, with the overarching goal of boosting employment prospects.
The Finance Minister’s address reflects the government’s strategic approach to prioritize education as a catalyst for economic growth and development. As the nation looks towards the future, the emphasis on technology and technical education signals a commitment to staying abreast of the evolving landscape and fostering a skilled workforce for the challenges ahead.
