Cooperative Victims Seek Justice, File Complaint Against Lamichhane and Others

Victims of an fraud case at the Pokhara-based Surya Darshan Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited have filed a formal complaint against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and lawmaker Rabi Lamichhane at the District Police Office, Kaski.

Superintendent of Police Mohan Bahadur Shrestha at the District Police Office confirmed that a complaint had been received against Lamichhane, along with Dipesh Pun, former chairman of Surya Darshan Gyan Bahadur Bomjan, and 18 different companies. The complainants allege fraudulent activities related to financial transactions and loans.

“We have been investigating since a week ago. A supplementary complaint has been filed on this. An application had also been filed before this. A complaint has again been filed today with the names of companies,” stated SP Shrestha. “We will conduct further investigation. Investigation would not have been hindered even if there had been no complaint.”

The victims, represented by the Surya Darshan Savings Victims Struggle Committee, have persistently approached the police to file a complaint against Lamichhane in the past. They claim that Lamichhane should be subjected to investigation as they believe illegal loans were taken from Surya Darshan to operate Galaxy Television, with Lamichhane serving as the managing director at that time.

The committee’s coordinator, Kiran Shrestha, emphasized that their stance is not biased against any individual. “We don’t hold prejudice against any person. We have demanded that the individuals whose names have come up during the investigation should be investigated,” Shrestha asserted.

The police have assured the victims of a thorough investigation into the allegations, with SP Shrestha confirming that the case is under active scrutiny and that the authorities are committed to uncovering the truth behind the accusations.
