Chinese envoy meets PM Dahal
A meeting was held between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song.
Ambassador Song arrived at Baluwatar on Wednesday morning and engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Prachanda for nearly an hour.
During their meeting, they discussed bilateral interests and contemporary issues. Ambassador Song expressed interest in the implementation of agreements made during Prime Minister Prachanda’s visit to China, including various 13-point agreements signed between Nepal and China.
However, there are concerns that the Dahal-led government is not giving sufficient importance to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project. The BRI project is considered the ‘dream project’ of Chinese President Xi and aims to enhance connectivity and trade networks between Eurasian countries through the land-based Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB) and maritime Silk Road (MSR).
