Nepal Starts ACC Women’s Premier Cup Campaign with Convincing Win Over Hong Kong

Nepal kicked off their journey in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup with a dominant display, clinching a resounding 8-wicket victory over Hong Kong in their opening match.

The encounter, staged at the Selangor Turf Club in Malaysia, showcased Nepal’s prowess as they efficiently chased down Hong Kong’s target of 94 runs in just 14 overs during the group stage fixture.

Led by skipper Indu Berma, Nepal’s batting lineup demonstrated resilience and skill, with Berma herself leading the charge with a commendable score of 40 runs, supported by Sita Rana Magar’s crucial contribution of 36 runs.

In the bowling department, Hong Kong’s Ikra Sahar and Chan Ka Ying Carey managed to secure one wicket each, but couldn’t thwart Nepal’s determined pursuit.

During Hong Kong’s innings, after being put in to bat first, they managed to accumulate 93 runs for the loss of 8 wickets within the allocated 20 overs. Despite a valiant effort from their captain Chan Ka Ying Carey, who top-scored with 21 runs, supported by Maryam Bibi, Yasmin Daswani, and Natasha Miles, Nepal’s bowling attack, spearheaded by Rubina Chhetri and Puja Mahato, claimed crucial wickets to restrict Hong Kong’s total.

With Nepal, Hong Kong, Maldives, and Bhutan grouped together in Group ‘D’, the ACC Women’s Premier Cup, featuring 16 teams, serves as a vital pathway to the ACC Women’s Asia Cup for the finalists and the Emerging Asia Cup for the semi-finalists.
