Nepal earns Rs 10.39 billion through power export

Nepal has earned an income of Rs 10.39 billion from electricity export to India. This is the income of first five and a half months of this year.

According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), it has so far sold 1.26 billion units of hydropower in the Indian market.

NEA started selling electricity on the day-ahead market of the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) in mid-May. Initially, it exported 39 MW generated by two hydropower projects.

At present, NEA is selling 409 MW of hydropower in IEX. The average selling price is Rs 8.23 per unit, according to NEA.
