‘China Begins Restricting Pilgrimages to Kailash Manasarovar’

In a recent meeting of the Public Order and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives, Nepali Congress lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu voiced concerns over China’s purported disruption of pilgrimage routes to Kailash Manasarovar via the Tinkar crossing in Darchula.

Badu highlighted that previously, pilgrims would navigate the journey with an established system of passes. However, he emphasized a recent shift, asserting that China has now initiated the practice of halting pilgrims at Tinkar crossing, preventing them from proceeding further.

“We need to address the situation at the northern border. Pilgrims heading to Kailash are being halted from obtaining passes at Tinkar crossing,” remarked Badu, underlining the altered landscape of pilgrimage routes.
