Foreign Minister NP Saud to Attend Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi
Nepal’s Foreign Minister NP Saud is set to participate in the prestigious Raisina Dialogue, a significant multilateral conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, which will be held in New Delhi from February 21 to 23.
The Raisina Dialogue is renowned as a crucial platform bringing together prominent personalities from across the globe to engage in discussions on pressing international issues. Minister Saud’s participation underscores Nepal’s commitment to active engagement in multilateral dialogues and fostering cooperation on regional and global challenges.
Last year, the invitation extended to the then Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka went unfulfilled, marking a missed opportunity for Nepal’s representation at the conference. Similarly, in previous instances, invitations extended to high-ranking officials like the then Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel also remained unattended.
This year, however, Foreign Minister Saud is gearing up to personally attend the dialogue, following his visits to Australia and New Zealand. Sources indicate that Minister Saud will travel from Nepal to India to partake in the event, signaling Nepal’s keen interest in regional diplomacy and dialogue.
The theme of this year’s Raisina Dialogue, “Twenty-first Century: Century of Asia,” holds particular significance amidst evolving geopolitical dynamics. India’s role as a prominent player in South Asia and beyond is highlighted through its hosting of the dialogue, which serves as a platform for showcasing both its economic and strategic prowess.
Since its inception in 2016, the Raisina Dialogue has emerged as India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, attracting renowned leaders and personalities from diverse regions. Notably, the dialogue has witnessed the participation of influential figures such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former US Defense Secretary James Mattis, and foreign ministers from the Quad countries in previous editions.
As discussions on geopolitics and geoeconomics unfold in New Delhi, Nepal will have the opportunity to voice its perspectives and contribute to the dialogue on key regional and global issues. While the list of attendees for this year’s conference is yet to be announced, Nepal’s presence at the Raisina Dialogue underscores its commitment to constructive engagement in shaping the future of the region.
