No Public Holiday on Falgun 1, Confirms Home Ministry
12th Feb 2024
The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that there will be no public holiday on Falgun 1 (February 13) this year.
In a statement released on Monday, the Ministry clarified that amendments have been made to the previously announced public holiday schedule for the current year, removing Falgun 1 from the list.
Speculations had arisen regarding the possibility of a public holiday on Falgun 1, the anniversary of the CPN-Maoist-led public rebellion, as the government had designated the day as Martyr’s Day last year.
However, following the Supreme Court’s decision overturning the government’s stance on celebrating Falgun 1, the government has opted to retract its decision regarding the public holiday.
