Nepal’s Investment Summit: Will Adani, Ambani, or Musk Attend?
The Third Investment Summit is coming up in Kathmandu on April 21 to 22, and Nepal is excited to welcome guests. The government has started inviting people to the event, including some important names.
According to sources within the Summit Secretariat, invitations have already been dispatched to several development partners.
Dr. Prakasharan Mahat, Minister of Finance and Coordinator of the Investment Conference Steering Committee, is personally overseeing the invitation of high-ranking guests. Minister Mahat reportedly extended verbal invitations to industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani during a previous meeting at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in India. It is now confirmed that invitation letters have been sent to them.
The Finance Minister has consistently highlighted the interest of international investors in Nepal’s key sectors such as tourism, hydropower, information technology, and infrastructure. It’s expected that corresponding legal amendments will be on the agenda to facilitate such investments.
In addition to Adani and Ambani, other notable figures invited include Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, and Elon Musk, the visionary behind Tesla and SpaceX.
However, despite the optimism surrounding these invitations, sources suggest that the likelihood of their attendance remains uncertain. Nevertheless, the government has also extended invitations to investors from neighboring India and China, underscoring Nepal’s commitment to fostering international investment opportunities.
