On that occasion, Prime Minister Prachanda lit 29 candles, and a moment of silence was observed in memory of the dead and missing people of the People’s War.
The armed people’s war started by the Maoists on Falgun 1, 2052, lasted for 10 years.
Falgun 1 is celebrated by the Maoists as People’s War Day.
Even though the government had decided to give a public holiday on this day, the Supreme Court overturned it.
