Revolutionary Citizens nationwide commemorate People’s War Day: DPM Shrestha
Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the Vice Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Center) and Deputy Prime Minister, reaffirmed the observance of the historic People’s War Day nationwide. Despite the government’s decision to rescind the public holiday designated for the occasion due to a court verdict, Shrestha emphasized the continued significance of the day.
Addressing the Maoist Center’s statute convention inaugurated today, DPM Shrestha articulated, “Today is the historic People’s War Day. Revolutionary Nepali people celebrate it, they are commemorating it today. We are also marking it. A situation may arise in the future to mark the People’s War Day officially once we conclude the remaining tasks of the peace process as per the indication of the court. The government could make another decision in the coming days in this regard.”
Shrestha acknowledged the withdrawal of the public holiday decision by the government, citing the court’s verdict as the driving factor. “Whether that falls under the jurisdiction of the court or not, there is a debate. But we abide by the court’s ruling as it is the government’s duty,” he added.
