PM Prachanda Addresses Concerns Over Balkumari Incident, Assures Action Upon Reviewing Report
In a parliamentary session on Sunday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” addressed concerns surrounding the tragic incident in Balkumari, Lalitpur, on December 29, 2023, where two youths lost their lives. Assuring appropriate action, PM Dahal stated that action would be taken after reviewing the report from the commission of inquiry into the incident.
Responding to queries from parliamentarians, PM Dahal disclosed that he had yet to examine the report submitted by the High-Level Inquiry Commission. He emphasized the prompt initiation of further action after scrutinizing the report.
During the session, main opposition parties, CPN-UML, and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), demanded the resignation of Physical Planning Minister Prakash Jwala. The Commission of Inquiry had attributed the incident to Minister Jwala in its findings submitted to the Home Ministry.
Prime Minister Dahal clarified that the commission, initiated based on his proposal, had presented the report to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Despite not receiving the report personally, PM Dahal affirmed his commitment to promptly studying it.
“As the Prime Minister, I have not seen that report; I am getting it today. After going through the report, action will be taken against the culprits,” Prime Minister Dahal asserted.
