Formulation of laws top priority of incumbent govt: Minister Gurung
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dhanraj Gurung, asserted devising laws to implement federalism and constitution was the topmost priority of the incumbent government.
He said so while responding to the questions of the parliamentarians in today’s meeting of the National Assembly on the resolution proposal regarding formulation of laws to enforce fundamental rights.
Stating that discussion on the same was held earlier, the Minister shared that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has already expressed his viewpoint on the proposal on the behalf of the government.
He reiterated that the formulation of laws was highly prioritized by the incumbent by making an action-plan for implementation of constitution and thus viewed that it was a shared responsibility of all.
The Minister informed that so far 131 new laws had been formulated, 46 old ones were amended and 13 Nepal Acts were revised.
In the meeting, lawmaker Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa had presented the resolution proposal-“Formulating the remaining laws for implementation of fundamental rights by September 19, 2024.”
In the meeting, parliamentarians Devendra Dahal, Anita Devkota, Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami, Mohammad Khalid, Shekhar Kumar Singh, Dr Bimala Rai Paudyal and Khimlal Devkota, who seconded the proposal, had also aired their respective views.
The proposal was unanimously endorsed by the meeting.
