Judicial Council Recommends Dismissal of Two Judges
The Judicial Council has recommended the dismissal of High Court judge Nawaraj Thapaliya and District Court judge Ambika Prasad Niraula. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha.
According to Govinda Ghimire, Joint Spokesperson at the Supreme Court, the recommendation to relieve judges Thapaliya and Niraula from their posts was put forth by the Council. Additionally, Kathmandu District Court judge Raj Kumar Koirala has been transferred to Mahottari district with a warning.
Furthermore, it has been reported that district judge Dr. Parshuram Bhattarai has already resigned from his post.
The Judicial Council, as mandated by the constitution, is responsible for various aspects concerning judges, including appointments, transfers, and disciplinary actions. It also provides consultations regarding judicial administration and addresses complaints related to judges, taking appropriate actions accordingly.
