College proprietor Gurung arrested on gold smuggling case

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has apprehended Jeewan Kumar Gurung, the Chairperson of Platinum College located in Dillibazaar, Kalikasthan, Kathmandu. Gurung, a resident of Fulbari-2, Parbat, was taken into custody in connection with a gold smuggling case. The arrest was made by a CIB team from Samakhusi.

According to CIB Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police (SP) Hobindra Bogati, Gurung was wanted in connection with the smuggling of 14 kilograms of gold from Dubai. Despite an arrest warrant issued against him, Gurung had evaded capture until now. SP Bogati stated that Gurung is believed to be the mastermind behind the smuggling operation.

Preparations are underway to hand Gurung over to the Office of Customs for further investigation and legal proceedings. The arrest marks a significant development in the efforts to combat illegal activities such as gold smuggling in Nepal.
