Victims of Loan Sharking Protest Inside Federal Parliament Building
Victims of loan sharking and microfinance exploitation gathered for a demonstration at the Federal Parliament building in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu on Monday. Their grievances against usury and financial exploitation led them to breach the restricted area and enter the Parliament building.
The protestors, expressing their frustrations through slogans and symbolic actions such as lying on the ground, demanded attention to their plight.
However, the situation took a dramatic turn when security forces intervened to regain control. Approximately 40 individuals were brought under police control amidst the chaos.
Interestingly, protestors claimed they were invited inside the Parliament building, adding a layer of confusion to the unfolding events.
The demonstration highlights the deep-seated issues surrounding predatory lending practices and the urgent need for reforms to protect vulnerable borrowers in the country.
