The eagerly anticipated ‘Laureates and Leaders’ Summit, focused on the peace and well-being of children, has been abruptly canceled due to political maneuvers within Nepal. The summit, which was scheduled to take place in Lumbini, home of the historic birthplace of Lord Buddha, has garnered significant international attention but has fallen victim to the shifting power dynamics within the country.

The decision to cancel the summit was made during a cabinet meeting held by the Lumbini province government, just days before the event was set to commence on March 11. This sudden cancellation has cast a shadow over Nepal’s diplomatic image and raised questions about the stability of its political landscape.

The summit, which was organized by the Lumbini province government, aimed to bring together nine Nobel laureates alongside other distinguished international and domestic guests to discuss crucial issues surrounding the peace and well-being of children.
