House Backs Prachanda: Secures 157 Votes of Confidence
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has successfully secured a vote of confidence during Wednesday’s session in the House of Representatives.
Abiding by Rule 155 of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079 BS, and Article 100, Sub-Article (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, PM Dahal formally presented a proposal seeking the vote of confidence. During the session, he urged the House to express its confidence in his leadership as the Prime Minister.
With unwavering support from various political parties, PM Dahal garnered 157 votes in favor of his leadership. Notable among these supporters were the CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), CPN (Unified Socialist), and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), among others. This majority vote ensures the success of the vote of confidence, bolstering the stability of the current government.
However, amidst the affirmations, 110 lawmakers chose not to extend their support to PM Dahal, signaling a divided sentiment within the parliamentary body. Additionally, one lawmaker opted to remain neutral, further reflecting the diverse political landscape.
