Maoist Centre Discusses Vice Chair Mahara’s Arrest in Gold Smuggling Case

In a crucial meeting convened at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today, the CPN (Maoist Centre) deliberated upon the recent arrest of the party’s Vice Chair, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, in connection to the gold smuggling scandal.

Vice Chair and Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota disclosed that the meeting centered on Vice Chair Mahara’s arrest on Monday and the ensuing implications. “The discussion is underway, examining various facets of the issue. We anticipate reaching a conclusion soon,” stated Spokesperson Sapkota.

Furthermore, Sapkota indicated that the party is contemplating whether to suspend Mahara from his responsibilities within the organization. He affirmed that the party’s stance on this matter would be communicated following a scheduled regular meeting.

During the gathering, Prime Minister and party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ briefed attendees on the findings of the Investigation Commission on Control of Gold Smuggling, dated 2080BS.

Vice Chair Mahara was apprehended from Kapilbastu and subsequently transferred to Kathmandu on Monday. On the same day, the Kathmandu District Court extended his custody by an additional four days for further investigation.
