No Evidence Found Linking Home Minister to Cooperative Fraud Case, Says Police Chief
In a crucial development surrounding the ongoing investigation into the cooperative fraud case, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Basanta Bahadur Kunwar has come forth with a significant clarification. Addressing the state affairs and good governance committee under the House of Representatives (HoR), IGP Kunwar emphatically stated that the police have found no evidence implicating Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane in the said case.
Despite receiving multiple complaints and conducting thorough investigations, IGP Kunwar asserted that no incriminating evidence linking Lamichhane to the cooperative fraud has been unearthed so far. This statement aims to dispel any speculation or doubts surrounding the involvement of the Home Minister in the ongoing investigation.
Furthermore, IGP Kunwar disclosed that substantial progress has been made in the investigation, with the apprehension of five individuals connected to the case. However, he highlighted that 15 other suspects remain at large, indicating the complexities involved in bringing all perpetrators to justice.
Among the key revelations made by IGP Kunwar, the identification of GB Rai as the primary suspect stands out prominently. Rai’s involvement in the fraudulent activities has prompted the issuance of a diffusion notice against him, particularly after authorities received information suggesting his whereabouts in Malaysia. This development underscores the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies to pursue leads and bring individuals involved in the cooperative fraud case to account for their actions.
