Police Arrest 15 Demonstrators Urging Rescue of Nepali Recruits in Russian Army
The police have apprehended 15 protestors who were staging a demonstration in front of the southern gate of Singha Durbar. The protestors were fervently demanding actions to safeguard the lives of Nepali citizens recruited in the Russian army.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabaraj Adhikari, the Spokesperson of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, disclosed that the protest, spearheaded by Activist Kritu Bhandari of the Awareness Campaign, took place on Monday at Singha Durbar.
Adhikari informed, “Fifteen individuals, comprising 10 males and five females, who were engaged in the demonstration at Singha Durbar, have been taken into custody. They are currently being held at the Singha Durbar Police Circle.”
The protestors voiced their concerns, demanding immediate actions to rescue Nepali nationals serving in the Russian Army. They also called for efforts to locate those who have lost contact and to facilitate the repatriation of the deceased back to Nepal.
