Fire Breaks Out at Armed Police Force Central Warehouse
A fire engulfed the central warehouse of the Armed Police Force (APF) on Monday afternoon, creating panic and chaos on the premises of the Nepal APF Hospital. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shailendra Thapa, who serves as the joint spokesperson for APF, the blaze erupted around 4:45 pm local time.
While the precise cause of the fire is yet to be officially determined, Thapa suggested that an electrical short circuit may have sparked the inferno. However, he emphasized that definitive conclusions regarding the cause cannot be drawn at this stage.
Efforts to combat the fire have been underway, with four fire engines deployed to the scene in a bid to bring the situation under control. The scale of the fire and the potential damage it may have caused remain uncertain as of now.
The warehouse, located within the premises of the Nepal APF Hospital in Satungal, was crucial for storing logistics vital for the operations of APF units across various regions. Thapa disclosed that the decision to utilize this warehouse stemmed from space constraints at the main warehouse situated in Halchowk.
“We had been storing logistics at this Satungal-based warehouse as our main warehouse in Halchowk had run out of space. Logistics for all APF units are disbursed from these warehouses,” Thapa elaborated.
