Uttarakhand Prepares for Lok Sabha Elections with Helicopter Emergency Service
As Uttarakhand gears up for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls starting on April 19, the state’s Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Vijay Kumar Jogdande, has outlined preparations to ensure a smooth and casualty-free electoral process.
Scheduled for a single-phase election, all five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand will be contested on April 19. Jogdande disclosed to ANI that two helicopters have been arranged for emergency services to address any unforeseen circumstances during the polling process.
“We have arranged two helicopters for emergency service. One helicopter will be deployed in Garhwal and another one will be deployed in Kumaon. It will be used only for emergency purposes,” Jogdande stated, emphasizing their commitment to conducting casualty-free polls.
Jogdande assured that comprehensive booth-level management plans, including access to Community Health Centres (CHCs) and ambulances, have been put in place to address any medical emergencies that may arise.
“To increase voter turnout in the hill state, more than 11,000 polling booths are being set up across the state,” he added. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, speaking to reporters in Nainital, urged voters to actively participate in the democratic process. He emphasized the significance of voting, stating, “Every single vote of yours will change the direction and condition of the country and it will create history.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), aiming to replicate its past electoral successes, won all five seats in both the 2014 and 2019 general elections. As the state readies for another electoral showdown, parties are mobilizing supporters and emphasizing the importance of exercising the right to vote in shaping the nation’s future.
