Nepal Sees Surge in Tourist Arrivals, Exceeds 100,000 Visitors in a Single Month
In an encouraging development for its tourism sector, Nepal has recorded the arrival of more than 100,000 foreign tourists in a single month, marking a new milestone. According to the latest data from the Nepal Tourism Board, the nation welcomed a total of 416,069 tourists over the last four months, averaging more than 100,000 visitors per month.
The data reveals a significant increase in tourist arrivals with the month-wise breakdown showing 79,100 tourists in January, escalating to 97,426 in February, peaking at 128,167 in March, and maintaining a strong inflow with 111,376 in April.
India leads as the top source country, with 110,573 Indian nationals visiting Nepal during this period. China and the United States also contributed substantially to the influx, with 38,290 and 36,846 tourists respectively. Other notable contributions came from the UK, Australia, Bangladesh, France, Germany, Russia, and Malaysia among others.
The significant rise in tourism numbers underscores Nepal’s burgeoning appeal as a prime travel destination, celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. This boom is expected to invigorate local economies and bolster the national tourism industry.
