Dr. Shailendra Giri Receives ICT Excellence Award 2024

Dr. Shailendra Giri has been honored with the prestigious ICT Excellence Award 2024 by the government, recognizing his remarkable contributions to the advancement and proliferation of communications and information technology. The award, which includes a cash prize of Rs 100,000, was presented to Dr. Giri by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ during a ceremony held on Thursday to commemorate the 7th National Information and Communications Technology Day.

Dr. Giri, currently serving as the Executive Director of Rapti Engineering College, has demonstrated exemplary leadership and expertise in the field. His extensive career includes a six-year tenure as the Executive Director of the Personnel Training Academy and Local Development Training Academy under the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. Hailing from Kholadaha in Jhimruk Rural Municipality, Pyuthan district, Dr. Giri holds a PhD in Computer Science.

His scholarly endeavors have significantly enriched the field, with numerous journal articles published both domestically and internationally. Dr. Giri’s research spans various domains such as e-governance, cyber security, cyber policy and laws, artificial intelligence, online education, technology management, and IT-related enterprises. He has authored a research book titled “Dimensions of E-Learning,” and another book, “Practices of Digital Government in Nepal,” is slated for publication.

Furthermore, Dr. Giri’s involvement extends beyond academia; he has served as a former central committee member of the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Federation, demonstrating his commitment to advancing technological initiatives on a broader scale.

The ICT Excellence Award 2024 recognizes individuals and organizations across seven distinct categories for their outstanding contributions to the field of information and communications technology, reaffirming Nepal’s dedication to fostering innovation and progress in the digital landscape.
