Ncell’s Acting CTO, Lena Kansakar, Receives National ICT Women Excellence Award 2024

The Government of Nepal has bestowed the esteemed ‘National ICT Excellence Award 2024’ upon Lena Keshari Kansakar, Acting Chief Technical Officer of Ncell, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT) presented the award in the women’s category to Kansakar on the occasion of National ICT Day 2024.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ personally presented the award to Kansakar during a special ceremony held at Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall) to commemorate National ICT Day 2024. Alongside the prestigious accolade, Kansakar was also granted a purse of Rs. 100,000, acknowledging her pivotal role in advancing ICT and her dedication to fostering technological development in Nepal.

Kansakar commenced her engineering journey by joining Ncell as an Assistant Engineer in 2005. Over the years, she has ascended the ranks to assume the role of Acting CTO, leading a technical team comprising more than 140 professionals. Notably, Kansakar holds the distinction of being the first Nepali woman to hold such a significant position within Ncell.

During her tenure at Ncell, Kansakar has been instrumental in spearheading several pivotal projects, including the implementation and expansion of 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. Her initiatives have facilitated telecommunications access in remote rural areas, expanded VoLTE services, and established critical data centers.

Kansakar’s academic prowess is equally impressive, holding a Bachelor of Engineering from Kathmandu University, a Master of Science in Information and Communications Engineering from Universität Karlsruhe (TH), Karlsruhe, Germany, and an EMBA from Pokhara University. Her multifaceted expertise and unwavering commitment have significantly contributed to positioning Ncell as a leading telecommunications service provider in Nepal.

In addition to honoring Kansakar, MoCIT recognized several other individuals and organizations for their exemplary contributions to the ICT sector on National ICT Day 2024. Dr. Shailendra Giri from Pyuthan was awarded the National ICT Excellence Award 2024, while One Point Financial Services received the National ICT Innovation Award 2024.

Furthermore, Monal Tech was lauded with the ‘National ICT Startup Award 2024’, the Social Security Fund was honored with the National ICT Award 2024 (Public Sector), and the Data Hub received the National ICT Award 2024 in the private sector category. At the provincial level, Dynamic Technosoft was conferred with the National ICT Award 2024.
