NEPSE Drops 24.58 Points to Close at 1,974.37
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) witnessed a significant dip, closing the first trading day of the week down by 24.58 points at 1,974.37. This marks a 1.23% decrease from the previous session, reflecting a broad sell-off across most sectors.
Trading began on a weak note and the downward trend persisted throughout the day. The steepest declines were seen in the Development Bank sector, which dropped by 2.65%. This was followed by losses in the Manufacturing & Processing and Finance sectors, which decreased by 2.37% and 2.03% respectively.
Despite the broader market downturn, two sub-indices managed to eke out gains, though the majority ended in the red. Out of 245 listed companies, share prices of 196 declined, 42 advanced, and seven remained unchanged.
Nepal Finance Ltd led in trading volume, with shares worth Rs 126.45 million changing hands, closely followed by Himalayan Distillery Ltd and Pokhara Finance Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 119.06 million and Rs 117.07 million respectively.
The total trading volume for the day also saw a decrease, with shares worth Rs 3.79 billion traded through 60,423 transactions, marking a decline from previous trading sessions.
