The Election Commission of Nepal has decided to officially register the Janata Samajwadi Party led by Ashok Rai, following a split from the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal, which is led by Upendra Yadav. The leaders who parted ways with the original party submitted their application last Sunday.
According to Suman Ghimire, the information officer for the Commission, the decision to register the new party was made during a meeting held on Monday. The registration adheres to Rule 5 of the Act on Political Parties and Rules on Political Parties 2074.
The newly registered entity will operate under the name Janata Samajwadi Party, distinguishing itself from the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal led by Yadav.
