Arrest Warrant Issued for Kantipur Media Group Chairman Kailash Sirohiya

The Dhanusha District Court has issued an arrest warrant for Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group, on Tuesday. The warrant was issued by Judge Chitra Bahadur Gurung following allegations of Sirohiya holding two citizenship certificates, according to a highly-placed police source.

A complaint filed at the District Police Office, Dhanusha, accused Sirohiya of possessing duplicate citizenship certificates. The Dhanusha Police noted that the citizenship number assigned to Sirohiya is identical to that of another individual.

In response to the allegations, Sirohiya issued a statement clarifying that he originally obtained his citizenship certificate in 2034 BS and procured a copy 23 years later. He asserted that he cannot be held accountable for the duplication of his citizenship number, which he claims occurred two years after he first acquired his certificate.

Sirohiya further explained that Himalayan Insurance had clarified the mistyping of his citizenship number in the company’s memorandum of association. He added that the documents submitted to the Office of the Company Registrar included a photocopy of his original citizenship certificate.
