Court Grants Police Three-Day Remand for Investigation of Sirohiya’s Dual Citizenship Issue
The District Court of Dhanusha has granted police the authority to remand Kailash Sirohiya, an executive at Kantipur Media Group, in custody for three days to facilitate further investigation. This decision comes in light of allegations surrounding a dual citizenship issue.
According to Sudeep Dangal, Chief of the District Attorney’s Office in Dhanusha, the police had requested a five-day remand following the recording of Sirohiya’s statement. However, the court approved a three-day remand period.
Sirohiya’s arrest transpired at the Thapathali office of Kantipur Media Group on Tuesday, following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Dhanusha District Court. The warrant was issued based on accusations of submitting fraudulent citizenship documents to various institutions.
Instances of two citizenship certificates bearing identical numbers but differing details have emerged, sparking concerns of identity fraud. A complaint lodged at the Dhanusha District Police Office has directly implicated Sirohiya in the alleged acquisition of citizenship through deceptive means.
