Nepal Stock Exchange Dips 22.14 Points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) saw a downturn on Sunday, shedding 22.14 points to settle at 2,109.34 points, marking the end of a five-day winning streak. This dip was marked by a mixed performance across various sectors, with 215 companies witnessing a decline in share prices, while 29 managed to advance, and three remained stagnant.

Leading the session in terms of turnover was IME Life Insurance Company Ltd, with shares worth Rs 156.61 million changing hands. Following closely were CEDB Hydropower Company Ltd and First Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 153.12 million and Rs 148.18 million, respectively.

While two sub-indices experienced gains, the broader market saw 11 others ending the day in the red. Notably, the Hotels & Tourism sub-index demonstrated resilience, posting a notable increase of 3.37%. Conversely, the Finance sub-index bore the brunt of losses, declining by 2.19%, followed by the Microfinance and Hydropower sub-indices, which were down by 1.78% and 1.62%, respectively.

Overall, trading activity remained robust, with shares worth Rs 4.44 billion changing hands on the bourse, even as market capitalization reached a substantial Rs 3.34 trillion.
