In a bid to boost tourism and promote cultural heritage, Nepal’s Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has announced ambitious plans to transform Janakpur into the nation’s premier wedding destination and Lumbini into a welcoming hub for birth tourism.
During the presentation of the annual budget for the upcoming fiscal year of 2081/82 BS (2024/25) at the joint meeting of the federal parliament, Minister Pun revealed plans to leverage Nepal’s rich cultural and religious significance to attract more tourists.
Highlighting the renowned Ram Janaki Temple in Janakpur, Minister Pun outlined strategies to develop the city into a vibrant wedding hub for both domestic and international tourists seeking to tie the knot amidst the ancient charm and spiritual aura of Nepal.
Furthermore, Minister Pun announced initiatives to enhance Lumbini’s appeal as a destination for birth tourism. As the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini holds immense religious and historical significance, making it an ideal location for expectant mothers seeking a spiritually enriching experience during childbirth.
