Landslide Victory: Exit Polls Predict Modi’s Return with Nearly 400 Seats

India has concluded its monumental general election, the largest and longest in the world, with the completion of the seventh round of voting on Saturday. As the voting wraps up, exit polls have started projecting the results, indicating a significant victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Several exit polls suggest that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will secure an overwhelming majority in the Lok Sabha, India’s lower house of parliament. India News-D Dynamics estimates that the Modi-led NDA alliance will win 371 seats, while giving 125 seats to the Congress-led India Alliance.

Another exit poll, Republic of India-Pmark, predicts 359 seats for the NDA and 154 seats for the India Alliance. Similarly, Jan Ki Baat’s exit poll projects the NDA winning between 362 to 392 seats and the India Alliance securing between 141 to 161 seats.

Overall, exit polls predict that the NDA will secure approximately 365 seats, compared to 142 seats for the India Alliance. To form a government, a party or coalition needs a minimum of 272 seats in the 543-seat Lok Sabha.

If these exit polls are accurate, Narendra Modi is poised to return to power for a third consecutive term. This would be a historic achievement, as no prime minister since Jawaharlal Nehru, who governed for 17 years following India’s independence, has won three consecutive elections.

The final results of the election will confirm whether these exit poll projections hold true, marking a significant moment in India’s political landscape.
