NRB Emphasizes Productivity in Monetary Policy and Government Spending

In a recent address at an event organized by the Economic Media Society Nepal (EMSON) in Kathmandu, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari voiced concerns over the unproductive nature of government capital expenditure and outlined plans for maintaining flexibility in the monetary policy in the upcoming fiscal year.

Governor Adhikari underscored the importance of productive investments and highlighted the central bank’s commitment to implementing flexible monetary policies. He emphasized that discussions with relevant authorities would be conducted through appropriate channels for the upcoming monetary policy.

Addressing the private sector, Adhikari urged increased investment in productive sectors, noting that this year’s budget prioritizes private sector engagement. He stressed the necessity of honest efforts in budget allocations, alongside strategies to involve and support the private sector effectively.

Furthermore, Governor Adhikari pointed out the government’s special focus on agriculture in the budget, aiming to ensure its sustainability and foster growth in the sector.
