Nepal Police and NBL Collaborate to Establish Scholarships for Police Personnel’s Children
In a significant stride towards enhancing educational opportunities for the children of Nepal Police personnel, a landmark agreement has been sealed between Nepal Police and Nepal Bank Limited. This strategic collaboration aims to foster the establishment, operation, and management of the ‘Nepal Bank Limited Educational Scholarship’.
The formal signing ceremony, graced by the presence of Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, witnessed the exchange of commitments between Prakash Kumar Adhikari, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Bank, and Senior Superintendent of Police Revati Dhakal, Chief of Nepal Police Headquarters Welfare Division, representing their respective organizations.
During the event held at the Nepal Police Headquarters on Friday, Adhikari symbolically handed over a cheque of thirty lakh rupees to Senior Superintendent of Police Dhakal, earmarked for the initiation of the Akshaya Fund. This fund, established under the purview of the ‘Nepal Bank Limited Educational Scholarship’, underscores a collective effort towards educational empowerment.
Expressing gratitude for this collaboration, Inspector General of Police Kunwar hailed Nepal Bank’s commitment to extending scholarships to the children of low-ranking police personnel. He emphasized the potential of this initiative to uplift the morale of the diligent personnel who tirelessly serve the nation.
Inspector General Kunwar envisioned this agreement as a milestone fostering stronger ties between the two entities. He underscored the transformative impact of the scholarship program, asserting its role in nurturing the holistic development of the country by empowering students enrolled in Nepal Police Schools.
Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Bank, Tilak Raj Pandey, echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of Nepal Police in serving the citizenry. Pandey expressed satisfaction in supporting the descendants of police personnel and anticipated deeper collaboration in the future.
As per the terms of the agreement, Nepal Bank will allocate thirty lakh rupees towards the establishment of the ‘Nepal Bank Limited Educational Scholarship Akshaya Fund’, to be managed by the Welfare Division under the Police Welfare Fund. Scholarships will be disbursed from the interest income generated by the fund, benefiting students studying in Nepal Police Schools from grades 4 to 10.
The scholarship allocation prioritizes descendants of police personnel facing economic hardships, with provisions for those whose family members have sacrificed their lives or suffered disabilities in the line of duty. Furthermore, the agreement stipulates incentives for descendants of various ranks within the police force, ensuring equitable access to educational support.
This groundbreaking agreement is poised to take effect from the academic session 2081, marking a significant stride towards fostering educational inclusivity and honoring the dedication of Nepal Police personnel. The ceremony, attended by dignitaries including Additional Inspector General of Police, representatives from Nepal Bank Limited, and senior police officers, resonated with a spirit of collaboration and commitment to educational empowerment.
