Turkey to Impose 40% Additional Tariff on Vehicle Imports from China
Turkey has announced a 40% additional tariff on vehicle imports from China, effective from July 7. This decision, published in the country’s Official Gazette on Saturday, aims to regulate the influx of Chinese vehicles into the Turkish market.
The new tariff will be set at a minimum of $7,000 per vehicle. If the 40% tariff calculated from the price of an imported vehicle is less than $7,000, the minimum tariff of $7,000 will be applied.
This move follows Turkey’s 2023 imposition of additional tariffs on electric vehicle imports from China and the introduction of regulations concerning EV maintenance and services. The latest decision underscores Turkey’s ongoing efforts to manage its vehicle import market and ensure fair competition for domestic manufacturers.
