India Rebukes China-Pakistan Joint Statement, Defends Kashmir Sovereignty

India has strongly rebuffed the joint statement issued by China and Pakistan during Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Beijing, which included unwarranted references to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, categorically rejected these references, emphasizing India’s longstanding position on the matter.

“The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India, and no other country has the right to comment on their status,” stated Jaiswal. India reiterated its stance that any attempt by external parties to interfere in its internal affairs regarding these territories is unwelcome and without legal basis.

Furthermore, India expressed strong opposition to mentions in the joint statement regarding the so-called China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which includes projects in Indian sovereign territory under illegal occupation by Pakistan. The spokesperson underscored India’s firm rejection of any action that supports or legitimizes Pakistan’s unlawful control over these areas, which it views as a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The joint statement from China and Pakistan also touched upon South Asian issues, opposing unilateral actions for the resolution of outstanding disputes. This follows Mr. Sharif’s briefing to Chinese leaders on the Kashmir situation, a move that India views as unwarranted interference in its internal affairs.

India’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir remains consistent and clear, asserting its sovereign rights over the region and rejecting any external attempts to alter this status. As tensions persist in the region, India stands firm in its commitment to safeguard its territorial integrity against any external pressure or intervention.
