Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong Arrives in Nepal for Diplomatic Meeting

Sun Weidong, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of China, is arriving in Nepal today to participate in the 16th meeting of the Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultative Mechanism. The meeting, scheduled for June 25 in Kathmandu, will be led by Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal and attended by senior officials from various ministries. Discussions will focus on bilateral relations and areas of cooperation.

During his three-day visit, Sun will also hold separate courtesy meetings with President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. He will depart for China on June 26.

China’s active diplomatic engagement with Nepal follows recent changes in the coalition government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’
