Nepal Stock Exchange Ends Winning Streak, Closes with Nominal Loss
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) concluded today’s trading session by snapping a five-day gaining streak, marking a nominal loss of 4.62 points to settle at 2,136.35 points on Monday.
Market data revealed that 141 scrips saw declines during the day, while 95 advanced and 10 remained unchanged. Analysts noted that the market underwent a correction phase following a six-day upward trend.
NRN Infrastructure & Development dominated trading activities with shares worth Rs 287.08 million changing hands, making it the highest turnover of the session. Following closely were Janaki Finance Company Ltd and CEDB Hydropower Development Company Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 155.55 million and Rs 96.39 million, respectively.
In terms of sector performance, three sub-indices recorded gains, whereas the remaining 10 ended the day in negative territory. The Microfinance sub-index led the gains, rising by 0.92%. Conversely, the Hotels & Tourism sub-index experienced the largest decline, down by 0.95%.
Trading on the bourse saw a total turnover of shares amounting to Rs 4.56 billion through 59,974 transactions. The day’s trading activities contributed to a total market capitalization of Rs 3.38 trillion.
