Madhes Province Media Council Chair Bhattarai found dead in a resort
Shiva Hari Bhattarai, 60, Chairman of Madhesh Province Media Council has been found dead.
Bhattarai was found in a room of Holiday Resort in the Pattharkot area in Lalbandi Municipality-13, Sarlahi district on Saturday morning.
Bhattarai arrived in Sarlahi on Friday evening to attend the 11th Annual General Convention of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Sarlahi District Chapter, as a guest. He had slept in the room after taking dinner at the resort.
According to District Police Office, Sarlahi, Bijaya Shrestha, hotel employees, and his friends had checked his room after he did not get up till late in the morning. He was then found dead in his bed.
Preparations are being made to take his dead body to Provincial Hospital at Malangawa for post-mortem, according to DSP Bijaya Shrestha.
The 11th AGM of FNJ, Sarlahi Chapter, has been put off until further notice following the death of Bhattarai.
