Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the need for an amendment to the Constitution to promote progression and prosperity in Nepal. Speaking at a party program in Chyasal today, Oli asserted that the current political alignment between the two major political parties, the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML), is poised to proceed with the constitutional amendment to advance the nation’s development.
In his address, Oli dismissed allegations that the major parties are seeking to amend the Constitution for regressive purposes. “The Constitution is an amendable document as per the needs of the country and the people,” he stated, arguing that amending the Constitution is necessary to adapt to evolving national requirements.
The program, held at the party’s central office, also saw the swearing-in of the recently nominated party vice-chair and central members. Oli highlighted that amending the country’s main law is crucial for strengthening democracy, enhancing its gravity and acceptability, exploring additional bases for development and prosperity, and fostering a stronger connection with the citizens. “The Constitution is not unamendable,” he reiterated.
Oli further stressed the importance of practicing clean competition in politics and focusing on the service of citizens. He underscored that the amendment aims to fortify democratic values and facilitate sustainable progress in Nepal.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a critical time, as the nation looks forward to reforms that will bolster its democratic framework and drive forward its developmental agenda.
