Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi announced significant progress in the amendment process of the Human Trafficking Control Act during today’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR). Responding to queries raised by lawmakers during the emergency, zero, and special hour, Minister Sudi stated that the draft law will soon be presented to the Council of Ministers for approval.
Minister Sudi explained that a draft amendment to the Human Trafficking Control Act, 2064 BS, has been prepared and sent to the Ministry of Finance for its opinion. Once the Ministry of Finance approves, the draft will be forwarded to the Council of Ministers for final approval.
In addition to the Human Trafficking Control Act, Minister Sudi highlighted progress in drafting legislation for the Nepal Children Organization. He emphasized the government’s commitment to combating human trafficking through comprehensive measures, including prevention, rescue and protection, legal action, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation.
The announcement underscores the government’s dedication to strengthening legal frameworks and enhancing efforts to protect vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, from human trafficking and exploitation.
