Vector and Water-Borne Disease Infections Increasing Across the Country

In a concerning development, the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) under the Department of Health Services reported today that infections from vector and water-borne diseases are on the rise across the country.

The EDCD stated that one person has died due to dengue, and 2,365 people have been infected with the disease over the past seven and a half months. Dengue has now spread to 73 districts nationwide. The distribution of infections is as follows: 537 in Koshi Province, 46 in Madhes Province, 747 in Bagmati Province, 508 in Gandaki Province, 247 in Lumbini Province, 38 in Karnali Province, and 242 in Sudurpaschim Province.

In specific regions, 287 cases of dengue have been recorded in Kathmandu Valley, 137 in Kaski, 133 in Jhapa, 116 in Chitwan, and 110 in Tanahu.

In addition to dengue, the number of cholera cases has also been increasing. The EDCD confirmed 30 cases of cholera across the country, although no casualties have been reported so far.

The rise in infections highlights the urgent need for enhanced public health measures and awareness to combat the spread of these diseases.
