BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital Introduces Advanced Urological Surgery with Thulium Fiber Laser
BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur has made a significant advancement in urological surgery by introducing the state-of-the-art Thulium Fiber Laser (TFL) technology. This cutting-edge laser machine represents the latest development in endourology, which focuses on minimally invasive surgical procedures.
Deputy Director and urologist at the hospital, Dr. Umesh Nepal, highlighted the benefits of the TFL technology, noting that it overcomes previous limitations of laser surgery in urology, particularly the issue of tearing effects. “With the adoption of TFL, bleeding during surgery is minimized, and the risk is significantly reduced due to non-invasive tissue penetration,” Dr. Nepal explained.
The hospital, which performs approximately 450 surgeries for urine bladder cancer and 100 prostate cancer surgeries annually, expects the TFL technology to be particularly beneficial for these patients. The technology’s precision and reduced risk factors are seen as major advancements in patient care.
On the very first day of installation, three successful surgeries were conducted using the new TFL technology.
Executive Director of the hospital, Dr. Shivaji Poudel, emphasized the hospital’s commitment to providing advanced and accessible services to patients by continuously adopting modern technology. He noted that the hospital attracts patients not only from across the country but also from bordering areas of India.
With this latest upgrade, BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital continues to solidify its reputation as a leading center for advanced medical care in the region.
