The Maldivian football team arrived in Nepal today to participate in the U-20 SAFF Championship Football Tournament, which will feature South Asian nations. The tournament is set to take place on home ground, with matches beginning on August 18.
Officials from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) welcomed the Maldives team upon their arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport.
The tournament is organized into two groups. Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are in Group ‘A’, while India, Maldives, and Bhutan make up Group ‘B’. The host nation, Nepal, will face off against Sri Lanka in the inaugural match.
Teams from Bhutan, India, and Sri Lanka are scheduled to arrive in Nepal tomorrow, with the Bangladesh team following on August 17, according to ANFA.
The Nepali U-20 squad includes the following players: Jiarath Shekh, Krishal Moktan, Bishal KC, Simanta Thapa, Aswin Ghorasaini, Bikram Tamang, Ayush Timilsina, Avinash Syangtan, Jana Prakash Bom, Lakshu Thapa, Madan Poudel, Ram Thapa, Samin Ghimire, Saroj Darlami, Ninsang Limboo, Kushal Deuba, Niraj Karki, Harish Raj Bhatta, Dharmendra Kunwar, Anil Bamjan, Samir Tamang, Nirajan Dhami, and Rohan Khadgi.
