U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard R. Verma Arrives in Nepal for High-Level Talks
Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard R. Verma arrived in Nepal today for a visit aimed at advancing and supporting a prosperous, secure, and resilient future for both countries, according to the U.S. Department of State.
During his visit, Deputy Secretary Verma will lead a delegation in meetings with senior Nepali government officials, development professionals, and business leaders. The discussions will focus on shared priorities such as economic development, women’s empowerment, energy collaboration, and strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations.
Following his visit to Nepal, Deputy Secretary Verma is scheduled to travel to New Delhi, India, from August 17-22. In India, he will engage with senior government officials, climate leaders, and representatives from the aerospace industry and academia. The visit aims to strengthen the U.S.-India partnership across a range of issues, including economic development, clean energy and climate action, and STEM education.
Verma will be accompanied in India by Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy John Podesta and Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy David Turk, according to the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu.
