Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Meets with US Deputy Secretary Richard R. Verma to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a meeting on Friday with US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Richard R. Verma, who is currently visiting Nepal. The meeting took place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, focusing on enhancing and expanding the relations and cooperation between the two nations.
Deputy Secretary Verma, who arrived in Kathmandu earlier that day, is set to meet with other high-ranking officials, including President Ramchandra Paudel and Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, during his visit. This marks the highest-level US visit to Nepal since the formation of Prime Minister Oli’s government, with Oli also serving as the chairman of CPN (UML).
In addition to his discussions with Nepali leaders, Deputy Secretary Verma will engage with USAID Nepal’s program implementation partners, tea experts, and local business leaders, as per the US Embassy in Kathmandu. Verma, a key figure in President Joe Biden’s administration, is recognized for his knowledge of Nepal.
After completing his one-day visit to Nepal, Verma will depart for India on Saturday, where he is scheduled to stay until August 22, according to the US State Department.
