Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day Commemorated with Flag Hoisting Ceremony in Nepal
On the occasion of the 79th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, a flag hoisting ceremony was held today at the Office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia, located at the IME Complex in Kathmandu.
Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Nepal and Chairman of IME Group, led the ceremony by hoisting Indonesia’s red and white flag, marking the significance of the day and celebrating the enduring friendship between Indonesia and Nepal.
Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Nepal were established in 1960, and since then, the bond between the two nations has remained strong and cordial. Under the leadership of Mr. Dhakal, the Office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Nepal has played a pivotal role in further strengthening these ties. The relationship between the two countries has flourished, evidenced by increasing people-to-people contacts, enhanced diplomatic engagements, and a growing number of events and promotional activities.
These efforts have not only boosted bilateral trade but also significantly contributed to the tourism sectors of both nations. Indonesia, being the largest economy in ASEAN, is an emerging market with vast potential. The trade volume between Indonesia and Nepal continues to grow, with Indonesia being one of Nepal’s major trade partners. The natural and cultural heritages of both countries also present great opportunities for expanding tourism, which is seen as a sector with immense business potential.
The ceremony today served as a reminder of the strong and evolving partnership between Nepal and Indonesia, with ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation in trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
