Two Arrested After Detonating Improvised Explosive Device at Mahendra Multiple Campus
Two individuals were arrested after attempting to flee the scene following the detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), commonly known as a Sutali Bomb, at Mahendra Multiple Campus in Ghorahi this morning.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ram Prasad Timilsina, spokesperson for the District Police Office, the two suspects arrived on a motorcycle and one of them threw the IED, which detonated with a loud bang. The suspects were apprehended while attempting to escape shortly after the explosion.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abhiyan Thapa of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-15 and Sudan Karki, a student at the campus. Both have claimed that they set off the “fire-cracker” for fun, according to the police.
DSP Timilsina confirmed that Thapa was the one who hurled the IED on the road in front of the campus. The police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
